What Is Going On With Daniel Sturridge’s Contract?
Posted on January 10th, 2012 | by David in Chelsea NewsThe Daily Mail had a worrying story this morning that Daniel Sturridge and Chelsea have not started talking about a new deal.
Sturridge is entering the final two years of his deal and has been one of Chelsea’s best players this season. If Chelsea cannot sign him to a new deal, then they run the risk of Sturridge leaving for a fraction of his £20million valuation next summer.
One potential holdup is that Sturridge sees himself as a number nine, and not a forward who plays on the right flank. With Torres and Romelu Lukaku considered more of a center forward by AVB than Sturridge, that might be a reason why Sturridge could not be rushing into a new deal at Chelsea. Remember it was only two years ago that Sturridge walked out on Manchester City because they would not meet his demands.
