We’ve heard it all before Song

This Arsenal team has a very peculiar little habit, they always seem to repeat each others sentiments.

The latest Arsenal player to repeat themselves is Alex Song. The Mirror reports that he’s been saying that this Arsenal team need to change their mental approach to games in order to win silverware.

The problem is, no matter what anyone says in this team, nothing changes. It’s all well and good claiming to know what the problem is, but unless something is done about it, it may not have even been mentioned in the first place.

We had a lot of injuries this year, which was not easy, we missed a lot of players.

How much longer can we blame injuries for our failures? Now don’t get me wrong, we have had another poor injury list this season, but now this has been the case for almost 7 years, Arsene needs to address the situation and even sign adequate cover, or sell those more injury prone and sign more resilient characters.

Sometimes we get on the pitch and we think ‘this game will be won easily’ that is something that we have to change. Because when you think you are going to win a game, and you don’t, it knocks the team.

You can’t play a game against Manchester United and lose against Bolton in the game before that.

I think we need to have the same mentality whether we play Bolton or Manchester United. I think we need to learn from this to be ready for next season.

That can’t be argued. Something that Arsenal fans all over have pondered. How can we beat Manchester United, but throw away a 0-4 lead at Newcastle? There’s huge motivational issues at the club. Whereas a Man Utd or Chelsea would have aimed for 0-6/7, we sat back and allowed it to crumble around us.

Now, I’m not too sure as to where The Mirror are claiming to get this quote from, but Song did an interview for BBC over a week ago, where he said almost the exact same thing;

When we play against Bolton we just need to be ready – like we were against Manchester United. Maybe we need more concentration. Maybe we should think about how we can play in those games like we do against United or against Chelsea. We need to be more consistent

Song is either doing the rounds as if he was promoting a film, or The Mirror has taken quotes and edited it to seem unique, who knows, but the truth is if the players, manager and board know what the problem is, why the hell isn’t something being done about it? Maybe this summer we will, much has been said about how Arsene is willing to spend big this summer to bring in talent, let’s hope it’s the truth and not empty promises because if it is, it could be Arsene’s last chance to bullshit his way to another year.
