Arsenal are preparing a sensational summer offer to bring Patrick Vieira back to the club.

The former French international midfielder had major success under Arsene Wenger at the club, winning three Premier League titles and four FA Cup trophies during his time with Arsenal.

His last kick for the club has also coincided with a baron five-year spell at the Emirates, with his ’05 Cup Final penalty the last time Arsenal won a major trophy.

Vieira, who signed for Manchester City in the summer, is reportedly considering his playing future after struggling to earn first-team opportunities, with coaching seen as his future.

The Daily Star reports that Wenger is set to offer the 34-year-old an offer to join his coaching staff in north London, with the Frenchman set to make major changes in his Arsenal backroom to coincide with the potential retirement of Pat Rice.

“Patrick feels he is nearing the end of his playing days and still has huge affection for Arsenal and Arsene,” a source told the national paper.

“A coaching role would be ideal for all concerned.”

The British media outlet goes on to claim that Wenger is trying to use Thierry Henry, an Arsenal legend back at the club training during the MLS off-season, to persuade Vieira that his post-football future should be with the Gunners.
