After Lady Alex Ferguscum’s assessment of Manchester City as ‘desperate’, defender Nemanja Vidic says City are ‘obsessed’.
It is 35 years (and we’re still here) since the Blues last won a trophy and rarely have they got closer during that time than they are at the moment.
Yet the Vidic’s Manchester United stand in their way when City bid to reach the FA Cup final on Saturday.
“Manchester City have an obsession about winning a trophy,” said the Serbian, “After the big money they have spent, they want to win their first trophy. In the last few years we have had a lot of success. We have always been in quarter-finals, semi-finals, two Champions League finals. We are playing at the top level. Every team wants to do their best against us. But we will be ready.”
Both sides have problems going into the semi-final clash, United are without the services of striker Wayne Rooney as the Englishman is suspended for the game. On the other hand, City are without skipper Carlos Tevez, the Argentine has been ruled out because of a hamstring injury.
In Tevez’s absence, City are likely to start with Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli upfront. Vidic claims both players have different qualities as Dzeko is a target man and likes to play in the box whereas Balotelli likes to play on the ball and comes from deep.
