Yes, we should definitely be giving nothing but support to Manuel Almunia, who in truth, is victim to some criticism nearly as harsh as the defeat Arsenal accepted at Chelsea over a fortnight ago.

The Spaniard is just about an expert in facing spot-kicks and bar a number of costly errors in dealing with crosses and occasionally rushing out of his territory, Almunia is in fact a decent shot-stopper when called upon – especially for the unexpected dive/save.

But while the currently rejuvenated Fabianski has committed goalkeeping blunders of his own in the past, his counterpart Almunia’s fumbles often seem funnier….in virtual reality
