Ji-Sung Park gave the Reds the lead, but two highly controversial goals converted by Charlie Adam and Gary Taylor Fletcher gave the Seasiders the unlikeliest of advantages, however, Anderson, who scored his first Premier League goal of the season, an unfortunate own goal by Ian Evatt and late finish by Michael Owen settled the scoreline.
As little as it mattered, the result still sees United able to rise above their bitter long-standing rival, Liverpool, as they became the most successful English club by lifting their 19th top flight title.
