Almost all of the top clubs in Europe are interested in Xherdan Shaqiri.
The 20-year-old FC Basel midfielder is attracting attention from some big name clubs notably Manchester United, and Liverpool.
Born into an ethnic Albanian family he moved to Switzerland as a child, and started playing for Basels youth team SV Augst, before moving up to FC Basel in January of 2009.
The left footed ace is under contract with the St. Jakob-Park club till 2014, but this has not stopped other clubs from wanting to sign him.
Shaqiri was instrumental in putting Manchester United out of the Champions League with his two assists in Basels 2-1 victory over United..
While everyone is talking about the young Swiss international Turkish big boys Galatasary are said to have put an offer of €10million on the table.
Now we will have to wait and see just how badly the other clubs want him.
“It is now contact, we have received an offer from Istanbul,” Basel president Bernhard Heusler confirmed from the Swiss side’s winter training camp in Andalucia.
“We have taken note, but this does not mean it is a basis for negotiation.
“We are currently not willing to sell Shaqiri.”
Sporting director George Heitz has said Basel are not looking to sell, but there has also been enquires from British, and German clubs.
“Of course you never know what might happen, I am asked about three or four of our players.
“Clubs from Germany, Britain and Eastern Europe are asking and we have had offers.
“But we are in the next round of the Champions League and that is our main aim at the moment.”
