Is Arsene Wenger holding Arsenal back?

This is a guest post sent in to me by a lifelong Arsenal supporter Adam Kemp, and he thinks that this question needs to be asked after Wenger’s refusal to use his transfer budget yet again, despite the obvious need to reinforce the defence to withstand the best attacks in the Premiership. Obviously Wenger still [...]

The ongoing rumours about Emir Spahic’s imminent arrival at Arsenal have taken a backward step, as Montpellier have denied there are any negotiations going on between the two clubs. In fact their manager Rene Girard was quite taken aback by the rumours.

It is being reported all over the web this morning that Arsenal are close to signing the Bosnia captain Emir Spahic, but very few Arsenal supporters would have heard of him before yesterday’s report, which makes him a typical Arsene Wenger signing.

Hleb and Flamini to return to Premier League?

Just two years after both Aleksandr Hleb and Mathieu Flamini left Arsenal, it looks like both of them will be returning to England with their tails between their legs.
Hleb especially should be embarassed as he forced Wenger to let him leave, whilst complaining about “chaotic English life (and the weather!), while Flamini refused to sign [...]

The 35 year old defender, Sol Campbell, has admitted that he would have stayed at Arsenal for another year, but Wenger “had a certain budget to spend on wages” and wouldn’t move on it. So when Newcastle offered him a better deal (and a two year contract) he had no problem accepting the move.

Arsene Wenger is still waiting for a few of his senior midfielders to return (especially Cesc Fabregas), but the youngsters Jack Wilshere and Emmanuel Frimpong did well enough as cover.
