Review of 2011: March – Much better and back in contention!.

Let’s not beat around the bush here and let’s tell it like it is. We’ve seen two managers, drama, controversy, speculation, excitement, frustration and find ourselves at the turn of this year in the exact same position as we did a year ago. Isn’t it strange how things have turned out!

This is my review of 2011 and a year on my blog as written by me, a lifelong Chelsea fan giving you my take on everything that happened.

It’s important at times to look back and remember where we were, where we’ve come from, the good times and the bad and these series of posts will help you all do that.

So please, take the time to grab a drink, sit back and take a look back at the past year with me.. There’s plenty of highs and lows but as most of us will tell you, that’s what being a Chelsea fan is about.

March

The month started with a statue of “The King of Stamford Bridge“ being unveiled days before our clash with Manchester United.

In the build up, I posted the first of my in depth tactical analysis of the oppositions weaknesses on United and if Chelsea were to climb back up the table we needed to win. Chelsea beat United 2-1 and David Luiz became an instant hero!.

Didier Drogba reaffirmed his commitment to Chelsea, Claudio Ranieri stated he believed that we could win the Champions League, Avram Grant was linked with a return to Chelsea, I asked if David Luiz should calm down while Fernando Torres told us all that he is here to score goals!.

Back to the football and we then beat Blackpool 3-1 away in what was an uninspiring performance, So I asked you all if Ancelotti’s rotation policy was having a negative effect on us?, if we should switch back to 4-3-3 with Torres through the middle but stated that Fernando Torres WILL NEVER FIT IN unless we play to his strengths.

After the win at Blackpool I asked if we were back in the title race or had left it too late?, Luca Vialli tipped us for the Champions League final, Ancelotti linked again with a move away, Ranieri spoke of being The Tinkerman, of JT and revealed it was a toss up between Lampard and Michael Carrick as to who he signed!!.

Torres revealed he had no regrets leaving Liverpool for Chelsea, JT once again stated that Chelsea will never give up and was being linked to be reinstated as England Captain.

We drew 0-0 at home with Copenhagen to progress to the next round of the Champions League. Carlo said we could win it, Messi thought we were one of the favourites but it was United next up as Didier Drogba revealed the level of expectation in the competition is the semi-final stages every year!.

Once again we then heard from Torres and Drogba and playing alongside each other and Fabio Borini joined Swansea on loan. Didier Drogba also took time out to speak of the new rotation policy implemented at Chelsea since the arrival of Torres in January.

Carlo told us David Luiz will be the future of Chelsea, JT WAS confirmed as the England Captain again, Ron Gourlay gave an interview about our manager that didn’t exactly do any good and we then went on to beat Manchester City at home 2-0.

We then heard about Chelsea’s £100m, raid on Sneijder, Aguero and Rodwell, Drogba, Lampard and Terry to leave the club in the summer, Torres answer to not having scored for Chelsea yet, asked your opinions of Ramires as he got better, listen to Lampard change his tune and think that we COULD now win the league, saw another Brazilian sign for us, hear Ancelotti explain that being at Chelsea is like “paradise”, Lampard think that he is coming back to his best and Mikel wanting showdown talks with Carlo.

All in all a good month beating United and City and putting us right back in the hunt in the Premier League. Players playing well again but still we were waiting for Torres to score!.
