MEDIA AND SILLY GOONERS FORCE WENGER TO CLEAR AIR THAT DOESN’T NEED CLEARING

Posted on August 30th, 2010 | by pgk4 in Arsenal News

I’m a Gooner. I’m proud to be one and have tried my best to be reasonable while at the same time love the club for whatever it is. But, I’m sad to say that I can’t say the same about some of my fellow fans. The fact that Wenger has had to clear the air over Cesc’s commitment to Arsenal is an absolute shame according to me. It just goes to show how badly the fan support for the club has deteriorated and just how sinister the media can be.

I’ll be the first one to say that Fabregas was not on top of his game at Ewood Park. He misplaced passes he usually wouldn’t and he didn’t always make the right choice. But, to say that he actually wanted to be at Barca would be ridiculous. He’s been in this Arsenal side from the age of 16 and while he may not have the same amount of love for Arsenal as he has for Barcelona he MUST have fostered atleast some love for the Gunners. He’s put forth a hundred percent every game up until now and one summer’s nonsense changes all that? Wenger, to me, doesn’t seem the kind of person who would keep a player who is desperate to make the move away. He didn’t force Adebayor to stay, nor did he fall on his knees and beg Hleb to remain. Wenger is a Frenchman, and while I may seem stereotypical here, the French are quite a proud lot and Wenger definitely sits up there as one of the proudest. In case you haven’t already read them, here are the comments:

“He will be the player he was before without any problem and he will be stronger,” said the Frenchman. “And of course I think he will, once he is fit again, be involved mentally in the team. He is our leader, he is the leader of our team and he has a massive responsibility. I am convinced he will stand up for it. Cesc loves to play and that is why I did not tell him he could come off before the game. He did not know he would come off. He had not played since the World Cup Final. That was on July 11 and we are now the end of August. It is difficult and he should be ready for the next game.”

So that surely must explain it. He didn’t know. No top class footballer is going to come off the pitch laughing and prancing unless he’s made a substantial contribution to the game. Had Cesc made the sort of contribution he expects from himself I certainly doubt he would have the slightest problem coming off. Wenger also made a tiny soundbite on why Cesc and Arsenal still remain together:

“There is trust and confidence. I believe that Cesc has given a lot to the club but the club has given a lot to Cesc, so that’s why. I believe he loves Arsenal and that’s why he accepted our decision in the situation.”

It’s been a tough summer for Arsenal as a club as well as for fans, to read about the nonsense about Fabregas being spewed by those idiots at Barca. I despise writing about this again and it feels like a bug that just wont buzz off. It’s constantly buzzing and now the media have taken able control over from the blokes at Catalonya of spewing rubbish on every possible occasion. But of all the people connected with the matter, I think Cesc himself has had the roughest of times. Let’s hope the talk of Cesc and Barca stops atleast for the season to come. We are already a tad bit too busy with trying to win a trophy.

It seems Arsenal are to make/have already made the final bid for Fulham’s Mark Schwarzer. I certainly hope that the next time I type his name the prefix will be “Arsenal’s…” but I’m afraid I have to say that the skies are getting darker and it may just be time to call in the troops from battle. Fulham’s current stand-in Stockdale has gone and injured himself and will most probably be out for two months. That means getting the unsettled Aussie gloveman will be nigh-on-impossible unless Fulham manage to rope in Given from Man Shitty. Reading around one will find that that deal may just happen sometime tomorrow or even today before the clock strikes 12. But the question remains, whether there will be enough time to sort out the paperwork for Schwarzer’s deal. Mark Hughes’s unwillingness to discuss the possibility of a transfer until they get a replacement has made sure that even preliminary talks haven’t taken place yet. Hopefully, Wenger has a special suitcase labelled “Deadline Transfer Documentation”.

Now I know it’s been a gloomy post. I’m not particularly bubbling with positivity and neither have I been the kind to be so. But, there was this particular reaction from Redknapp that made my day. He’s made the entire process of proving him an idiot so much easier and for that myself and all the Gooners around the world give him our most heartfelt “thank you twitchÿ!”. It’s like an early Christmas.

To Rob Palmer- as a sworn enemy of the idiotic press I can’t really thank you but let me just leave it at saying not all evil is necessary an evil.

Anyways, that’s all for now I guess. Later. Cheers.
