Jonas Happy To Play Anywhere

Jonas Gutierrez has spoken to the press today telling us that he is willing to move anywhere in the toon’s line up, just to get a place in the starting eleven. This comes as Newcastle are without Jose Enrique with the left-back position left empty, and with Jonas playing left back in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa for Argentina, could Gutierrez be a perfect re-placement? But with the toon youngster Shane Ferguson being impressive so far this season under Alan Pardew, would the toon boss give the youngster a chance, or is experience needed in the final nine games?
Anyway this is what Jonas told us about the situation in defence: “I’ve always said that I will play anywhere for the team and perform whatever role the manager asks me to. Playing further back won’t be a problem for me. I would be comfortable wherever the manager wants me to play. I have played there for Argentina, and it would not be an unusual thing to do. The main thing is picking up points and wins for the team. I only look to the next game, it is wrong to look any further than that at this moment. We just need to keep doing our best for the manager and the fans until we have achieved our goal this season.”
About Shane Ferguson the toon boss Alan Pardew also commented: “Shane’s an option, he’s a natural left-footer, but he’s got a lot to learn. You can pitch in a young player before his time, and he’ll learn more from that experience than playing in a number of reserve games. There are no doubts in my mind about Shane over his training, or in that cameo role.” Kick off at the Britannia Stadium this weekend is at 3.00pm on Saturday live on BBC Radio Newcastle. H’way the lads!
