Guardiola to be future Arsenal manager, tonight is his last game at Barcelona?

Posted on May 28th, 2011 | by arsenalfanblog in Arsenal News,Barcelona,Champions League,Misc,Pep Guardiola

Tonight we will see the exact definion of the term, ‘Champions League Final’. The champions of England against the Champions of Spain, on English soil. One thing is a fact, it will be one hell of a game.

Rumours are floating around today that Guardiola may indeed take a year out after this game, win or loose.

Speaking to Gazetta dello Sport, Johan Cruyff said;

Guardiola has worked very hard over the last few years and it wouldn’t surprise me if he left independently of Saturday’s result.

If he left, it would only be because it is very difficult to withstand certain pressures in the long term. For this reason I think he would take a year off.

Could Pep be the future Arsenal manager?

Guardiola has said in the past that he loves the English game and it is a shame he never got to play in our league, leaving the possibility open that he would be open to the idea of managing a team in the Premier League. He interestingly enough also noted that he loves London, so it realistically leaves Arsenal and Chelsea the 2 possible teams he would want to manage.

People has always said that Guardiola is the natural replacement for Arsene Wenger, should he choose to leave. If Guardiola did indeed take a year off, the chances of him choosing the return to Barcelona would be slim. Sure they’d take him back in a heartbeat, but he’s mentioned before he would like a challenge somewhere else in the world.

Guardiola has won 9 trophies in the last 3 years, including 3 back to back La Liga trophies. Tonight he could claim his second Champions League title.

The Barcelona manager only signs a 12 month contract each summer, and he’s said before that he would sign just a 6 month contract if he could. So there is always a chance that Guardiola could decide to take a year out, and return in a year fresh and ready for a new challenge, let’s hope that new challenge could be at Arsenal.
