| Reds in Europa League for first time |
The Reds failed to qualify for the very lucrative knockout stages of the Champions League for only the third time in the last 20+ years and, by finishing third in their very winnable group, they’re now having to play football on Thursday evenings.
United will be away to Ajax at the Amsterdam Arena on February 16 and will host them at Old Trafford the following Thursday, February 23.
Due to rules already in place, the Reds won’t be able to face either of the two other English clubs – Manchester City or Stoke City – until the at least the quarterfinal stage – which they will need to win the next two rounds to have a chance of doing so.
