Dear Arsene, Please Let Go of the Deadwood

Dear Mr Wenger,
As an Arsenal fan all my life, I’m sad to see my first communication with you being in such bad spirit.
Me, like thousands of fans around the world who love Arsenal FC, are extremely proud of the way in which the club is run, and managed. Surely the worlds leading team in showing the way forward for any successful club to be run, Champions League every season, world-class players, such an enriched history, turning a profit yearly. A real example of how a modern-day football club should be run.
However, saying this, there are many who believe we are too lenient on those below par. Like in any business, those not performing their job to a satisfactory level should be let go. The same must apply for a football club.
I would like to outline the players who I, and many Arsenal fans, believe are sub-par standards for such a club as Arsenal;
- Carlos Vela - Once a real promising talent, the wrong mental attitude and lack of ability has hindered his career at Arsenal. Being on loan at West Bromich Albion can only of assured you of one fact, that he needs to be let go. The fact he can’t make the starting XI there says much about him. A real shame as he showed signs as a promising youngester, but he just won’t cut it at Arsenal.
- Emmanuel Eboue - A real character and moral booster yes, but an Arsenal player, no. He’s served the club well, but in the last few years he really has shown he cannot play for Arsenal. He is as ineffective in defending as he is in attack. He needs to be sold and a right back who can defend needs to be brought in.
- Tomas Rosicky - It is fairly obvious to see there is no longer room at Arsenal for Rosicky. Extremely poor form has only led to the diminished talent this Czech once had. If Rosicky is not to be sold, they surely Andrey Arshavin must, for the same reasoning.
- Sebastien Squillaci - Should never have been brought into the club. Always going to be a fringe player, he is a ineffective defender. He needs to be sold and replaced with a defender who can peform well when called upon.
- Denilson – Unfortunatley the young Brazilian is not good enough for Arsenal. The emergence of Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey has only pushed him down the pecking order. With Fabregas, Wilshere, Ramsey & Diaby above him for the MC role, he is deadwood and needs to be sold.
- Manuel Almunia - Needs to be sold. Nothing more needs to be said.
- Niklas Bendtner - A good player, but he is not an Arsenal player. Slow and cumbersome, he doesnt fit the squad. His recent interview stating he would play for Barcelona too needs to be addressed. Confidence is good yes, but blind belief is ridiculous. He is not a natural finisher and missed too many chances when they fall to him, ie. Barcelona. Sell the Dane and use the transfer fund for a more established goal scorer.
This is only a few of the players whom I and others feel need to be sold to aid the intake of new, more talented players.
Your policy of investing in youth is a brave one, and sometimes successful, one only need to look at Jack Wilshere to see how effective it can be. But there is no shame at cutting your losses. Sometimes for one reason or another, a player won’t fulfil his potential, then they need to be let go.
Yours Sincerely,
A Lifelong Arsenal Fan
