CONFIRMED: Wilshere in England 23-Man Squad

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Jack Wilshere has been named in the final 23 man squad going to the U21 Championships.

Stuart Pearce was meant to release the list of the final 23 men tonight, but now reports from the FA say it may not be released until tomorrow.

Arsene Wenger has said;

I have heard he has been picked, we have to accept and respect the choice even if I think it is the wrong decision. Jack Wilshere is in the red for a while now and this can be a risk for his health.

He will respect the decision. He knows he is nearly at the end of his energy level but he is keen to do well. He has played nearly 50 games this year. To go to a tournament for me is a massive risk.

I’m happy if the Under-21s do well because I want England to do very well. I think it is not the right decision but will respect it and let him go.

We had heard before that Jack was in the provisional 40 man squad, but now Arsene has confirmed, like we always expected, that he has been picked in the final 23.

Any player can pull out of the squad if they let UEFA know the June 1st, but as Jack has always made it clear that he wouldnt turn his back on his country, he will be going.

You have to give credit to Arsene for saying what he thinks. Saying that he doesn’t agree with it, but if it’s what his players wants, he can accept it. He hasnt done what many wanted him to do and put his stamp down and say no, but as I said in the previous post, if the kid wants to play football, let him.
