Arsenal to bid £6m for Bosnian midfielder
Posted on November 8th, 2009 | by pat in Arsenal,Arsenal rumours,Misimovic,WolfsburgYet another transfer rumour concerning Arsenal and another midfielder has emerged today, and they always seem to have unpronounceable names!
This one is from the News of the World and says that Arsene Wenger is very keen on the Wolfsburg and Bosnia midfielder Zvjezdan Misimovic, who has been getting rave reviews for the German side this season.
He has scored six goals so far for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, and also scored against Besiktas in the Europa League match during the week as his team surprisingly won 3-0 in Istanbul.
The NOTW says that Wenger is “a big fan of his passing and technical ability” but say that Arsenal’s offer of £6m is only have of Wolfsburg’s valuation of Misimovic, and is expected to be rejected out of hand.
The NOTW then ruins the credibility of the story by saying: “Wenger has already seen summer target Marouane Chamakh slip through his fingers because he refused to meet Bordeaux’s valuation of the striker.”, which is patently rubbish!
Wenger has made it quite clear that Chamakh was welcome to come to Arsenal, but as Arsenal already have a full complement of strikers, he would only be sitting on the bench. And he even said that he rang Chamakh to explain the situation!
And he even refused to take him on a free next summer, so meeting valuations didn’t even come into it!
So, if they can get that much wrong, the rest of the story is probably rubbish as well!
