Arsenal On Verge Of Signing Jon Miquel Toral Harper

Arsenal are set to secure the signature of Barcelona’s talented youngster Jon Miquel Toral Harper, according to reports. Catalan radio station RAC-1 comments that the 16-year-old, who has been developed for four seasons at the Blaugrana’s infamous La Masia academy, is a target for Arsene Wenger, who wants to complete a deal to bring him to English football.

Harper is a Spain under-16 international, and, should the move be completed, Barca would be entitled to €350,000 in compensation. The Catalan giants are reportedly far from happy at the prospect of losing one of their most promising prospects, in a situation strikingly similar to Cesc Fabregas’ 2003 move to the London club.

Ironicially, Pere Guardiola, the brother of Barca coach Pep, is Harper’s agent and is brokering the deal to take the player to England, where Arsenal are just one of a number of sides who have been monitoring the development of the left-sided midfielder.

Harper has an English mother, and that has influenced his decision to strive to continue his career with the Gunners and under the tutelage of Wenger at the Emirates Stadium, a factor which is edging the move closer to completion.
